St Mary’s Books holds unique association copies of Lewis Carroll’s iconic ‘Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There’

An 1882 edition, with Alice Hargreaves’ signature in full to the half title. There’s also an inscription from F.W.H. Russell from Edith dated January 1983

Alice Hargreaves (born Lidell) is well known as the inspiration for Lews Carroll’s ‘Alice’ of the story. An excellent early association copy, just a few years after she married.

A 1908 edition, with an inscription reading ‘Francis M.G. Davidson, from Alice Christmas 1911’.

The inscription is written by Alice Hargreaves. A lovely, well preserved example, this is a very desirable association copy.
