Remarkable book in original pig skin binding. Engraved vignette to title page, and decorations to  headpiece, initial, and tailpiece. Moderate to heavy rubbing to cover with some small marks and stains, title to spine heavily rubbed. The binding is very tight and the book is solid, all original, an amazing feat considering its age. Some light ink marks to rear of cover. Endpapers are worn and chipped. Small wormhole from page 267 to the end, not affecting text. To some pages toward the rear several wormholes have split. This is in the margin and doesn’t affect the text. Pages are toned and lightly foxed to edges although overall clean and secure. Some cracking to gutter although binding and pages seem very secure despite this. Small ink line to rear page. Overall very good condition. 744 pp 12[sup]0. Friedrich Spanheim the Younger was a German Calvinist theologian of conservative views who emphasised the study of church history.
