Sister Anne by Beatrix Potter
Illustrated by Katharine Sturges
Published by David McKay Company, Philadelphia 1932
Beatrix Potter is better known for her children’s books — tales of Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck, and other small, cute animals — but in this book for adult audiences, Potter retells the story of Bluebeard, a serial wife-murderer.
This first edition, second issue, was published only in the USA. Hardback clothbound with gilt tooled pictorial vignette and title to cover and spine. Top edges yellow. Illustrated frontispiece with additional twelve illustrations throughout. Spine edges a little rubbed, a few small marks to cover. Otherwise this is a bright clean copy of a scarce book. 154 pp.
