Second edition in original vellum binding. Early ink title to spine. Pictorial vignette to title page. Original endpapers, expert restoration to rfep and rep missing. Binding is very tight and secure. Cover is darkened to edges and to spine with rubbing and small marks to cover. Pages are toned to edges with occasional spotting but are remarkably clean and crisp for their age. Overall very good condition. vi + 450 + vi pp. Jean Le Clerc (pseud. Theodore Parrhase) (1657-1736) was a Genevan theologian and biblical scholar. A radical of his age, he was famous for promoting critical interpretation of the Bible and parted with Calvinism over his views. An interesting and scarce work in astounding condition.
