Six stunning black and white plates featuring poems from ‘When We Were Very Young’ by A.A. Milne, beautifully illustrated by Shepard. Published shortly after the book as a suite of plates designed to framed. Housed in a large folio envelope in paper covered boards, with original paper label to front cover. Illustrations include ‘Happiness’, ‘Vespers’, ‘The Kings Breakfast’, ‘Lines and Squares’, ‘Hoppity’, ‘Teddy Bear’, with original protective glassine wrappers. Two later replacement glassines. Prints in extraordinarily clean crisp condition. Just occasional minor wear and foxing to the wrappers and sheet edges. Folder with minor shelf wear. A beautiful set, particularly scarce unframed and in original portfolio. No other proof copy set currently on the market. Would enhance any serious Shepard or A.A. Milne collection.
